Time : 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm Description : The Southern Baptist Convention was founded in 1845. In the 1920s and 30s it condemned recourse to war and offered biblical justification for racial discrimination. By the 1970s it was involved in better opportunities and justice in the courts for Blacks. By the 1990s it expressed full support for militarism and the U.S.-initiated Persian Gulf War. What effected these changes of attitude and policy?John G. Bruneau recently retired as Dean and CEO of Gardner College, Camrose, where he taught for nine years. Prior to this he was pastor of First Baptist Church in Camrose. He has a strong interest in the public nature of Christian ethics.
